Louisa Allen with Swellmova
I have been in racing in Epsom for 18 years now where I have worked for trainers including Roland O'Sullivan, Ron Smythe and Simon Dow, where I was second travelling lad. Over the years I have had the privilege to work with some great horses including My Best Valentine, Young Ern and Chief's Song. I joined Jim Boyle's yard as Head Girl at an exciting time as the yard is seeing new horses arrive all the time, so no day is ever quite the same.
My Favourite Horse - I couldn't just choose one, all of the horses I look after mean the world to me. Sky Quest, Cross Fell, Alfie Tupper. Desert Reign and Newnham probably have the edge. Both were 'projects' and one has won 7 races for me and the other to just get back on track would be amazing for both myself and his owner. St Petersburg also needs to be included. He is stronger and happier this year and doesn't he just know it! Now I couldn't leave out Risque Heights. I have nick named him Denis...the Menace, because he is always up to something. He is great fun! |

Mark 'Jonjo' Pattinson with PatronOfConfucius
I have been with Jim Boyle at South Hatch Stables since day one. My first job in racing was with Reg Akehurst at this yard so it was great to come back. Prior to joining Jim Boyle I spent periods with Gay Kelleway and Angus McNae. I have previously race ridden with an amateur licence, I have been placed several times and have ridden a winner for Nigel Hamilton.
My Favourite Horse -
Trebello, he is a big gentleman who gets me away from the all weather through the winter. He is a good jumper who is improving. Seek the Fair Land has an easy way about him for such a big 2 year old. I think he will be out early and a nice sort. |

Richard Farmer with Idle Power
I have worked in racing for over 14 years in England and in Ireland where I grew up. I have worked for trainers all over the country including John Akehurst, Ray White and Mel Brittain, plus Con Collins in Ireland. I have had over 100 rides as an apprentice, riding 3 winners and many places. The best winner I have ridden is probably Contrary Mary at Epsom. I was one of the 'final three' in the Groom/Work Rider category at the Stud and Stable Staff Awards 2008, Sponsored by Godolphin.
My Favourite Horse - Well that's Idle Power as he is such a character, a real grand horse to work with. He has a great attitude towards his work. Al Gillani - One we have had to be patient with. He was put away as a 2 year old. I have always held this horse in high regard and he is a nice easy sort to do. Also the Diktat colt, he is a straight forward type who is very easy going, one for the future. |

Michelle Allen (Shelly) with Perfect Design
I have worked in racing for over 18 years now, starting out with Roger Curtis and Wally Carter. I held an apprentice license for a while before deciding that I got more out of the job getting horses ready for a race than racing them myself.
I joined the team working full time on the yard but that didn't last long and I quickly ended up back in the saddle frequently riding work. I am now Traveling Head Girls too so I am now either riding work or at the races.
My Favourite Horse -
Every time that I name a horse as my favourite, it is either claimed, sold or retired, therefore I am keeping hush! Lets just says that the horses I look after are all very important to me. |

Harry Poulton with 'Tiger'
I can't really remember not ever having horses in my life. I competed as a youngster, mostly showjumping. At 15 I decided to make a start in racing with Gary Moore. I later went on to work for my uncle, Jamie Poulton. After a spell working in Ireland I returned to Gary Moore's yard where I really enjoyed working. I took a year out from the game following a schooling fall but once I was back in one piece I was soon in the saddle and had my first ride over jumps. I hold a duel purpose licence and have had over 200 rides, 7 flat winners and 1 over jumps. I can't think of a better way to make a living than working in racing, it's a job I really love.
My Favourite Horse - Press the Button. He is a good handicaper who is improving all the time and is very easy to do. |

Barry Adams with Ravi River
I have been riding for 5 years now. My first horse was sold to me as an 'easy ride', let's just say trade discriptions would have a field day but the horse taught me loads. I have lived in England for 3 years having been bought up in Belfast. Since arriving in England, I have worked for Hennrietta Night for 2 years and with David Bridgewater and Nigel Twiston Davies. I have just retuned from a 6 month trip to Dubai. I have ridden 60 Arab horses, of which 5 have won and I have so far had 2 rides on Thoroughbreds. I really enjoy riding thoroughbreds and would like to race both flat and over jumps.
My Favourite Horse -
Bonne D'argent who is a frustrating sort who I have always had a soft spot for. Classical Rythm is very cheeky, just like myself! Ravi River believes he is Denman is disguise, ha ha ha! |

Nathan Alison with Itainteasybeingme
I started out wanting to be a professional footballer and have played for Chelsea and Charlton. With my height against me, well lack of it I had to move away from football. Somebody said I should be a jockey so I naively gave Jim a call. Up until then, the closest I had been to a horse was watching them on the T.V. I picked up the basics with help from the team and went off to Newmarket Racing School for 9 weeks where I was given an award for 'Most Determined'. I am glad I somebody gave me the idea to be a jockey, I really like working in racing. I was entered for the Stud and Stable staff awards for 2008 where I finished in the top three. I must be getting the hang of it!
My Favourite Horse - Sunnovergun. He is a real professional. He has a great character and is a joy to look after. A horse that put's a smile on your face. |

Sunny Sadiq with Copper Bottomed
At 14 years old Sunny started at Racing School in his home, Pakistan. He started handling the horses from the ground before venturing aboard. Sunny arrived at Jims having watched English racing on the T.V. He is really enjoying working in England at South Hatch and hopes one day to become the, "Champion jockey of Pakistan." Like his hero Shahid Rehman, the top rider in his home country.
My Favourite Horse - Alonso de Guzman. A huge horse who is an absolute angel. Copperbottomed is a lovable character who always shows willing a is very easy to do. |

Caroline Agnew with Hawkstar Express
Like so many of us working in racing, it all started with a naughty pony! I spent a bit too much of my childhood being thrown off that pony. It gave me a great education in understanding and riding the trickier horses though. Having started in Polo ponies I began working at John Bensteads where I stayed for 8 years before young Jack came along. I prefer to ride the horses that need a bit of help, ones with lots of character rather than the easier rides.
My Favourite Horse - Hawk Star Express is just totally hugable...if that's a word! The Game just looks a picture and he makes me feel like he needs me. Celtic Spring is just a wicked filly and the Lujain gelding is such a cheeky monkey! |
|
Yasim with Trebello
Yasim started his working career in Pakistan as a mechanic. He started to ride out in the mornings part time before going to racing school. Whilst working with horses in Pakistan he was on the recieving end of a kick which he is still feeling now. Yasim decided he would rather work with the horses on the yard than ride them so he takes care of the yard at South Hatch Racing.
My Favourite Horse - Trebello, a bit of a yard favouite. He is a big good looking horse who reminds me of Arabian horses back home in Pakistan. Ogre is a very friendly filly who I have bonded with really quickly. |

Eva Roth
I started riding aged 7 at home in Sweden. I always loved animals and I got interested in horses when I started riding my cousin's horse. I competed at a lower level but had loads of fun. I wanted to try something new so looked in to working with racehorses. In Sweden I was only able to do a 3 week course but I wanted a bit more excitement so applied to the British Racing School for their 9 week course. I have just completed that and now at South Hatch, want to see where racing takes me.
My Favourite Horse - S |

Carrie Rhamatallah
I am currently studying Equine Management at College so at the moment I am at South Hatch part time. It should all be finished in June when I will become a full time part of the team. I have been riding since I was 4 and have loaned horses over the years.
My Favourite Horse - Speak the Truth. Very easy to handle and a straight forward individual. |

Claire Richardson
I have been riding since I was 8 years old, competing in the odd local show before becoming interested in racehorses. I started working at weekends for Rachel Gibney before going to the British Racing School. Whilst deciding which direction to go in with horses, I worked with Nick Gifford. I then decided that my heart was in flat racing and I have been at South Hatch with Jim Boyle since. I would love to travel one day, maybe to America. If I turn out to good enough, I would love to get a ride on the track one day.
My Favourite Horse - One night in Lisbon - really sweet filly and Confucius Captain - he is very easy for a 2 year old, who has a mature and laid back attitude. |

Jess with Hurricane Hen
I have been with horses as far back as I can remember. My mum worked in horse racing so it was a natural choice to follow suit. I have show jumped on quite tricky ponies when I was still very young. I decided to go to racing school and was placed at South Hatch Racing from there which was great as I always wanted to work in Epsom. I want to gain experience and see where it may take me.
My Favourite Horse - Ogre - she is just a really sweet mare.
